Reply:Pretty. How did you attach the copper to the steel?Unfortunately they won't pass code with those huge open areas unless it's backed with plexi or glass. I can't tell if I'm seeing a reflection off glass in the last pict or if it's off the wall behind.Shame they didn't use branches for the wood work..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:Beautiful work on the cut outs. Is that copper or copper patina?"The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt
Reply:Those are cool. I hope they don't have kids. When I look at those points I can just imagine them running around and cutting an arm open."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:Damn thats cool!!!.Got one of those Canadian Tire Lincoln welders .
Reply:Very cool....But I am another one that's going to say the openings are too big....   And pointy....Other than those little safety issues, they are great......

Reply:Very Nice Work!  Especially the Copper work... It's one of my favourite metals to work with also.I do believe these people are right when considering the 4" rule (I used a Softball to test mine).  As far as I can tell (Montana State Building Code Online) it looks like Montana adheres to ('at least') the ICC and ICBO.  I'm also pretty sure that there's weight or deflection rule that applies to all 'rail guards' and yours may not pass due to the copper gauge / welded placements...I like the idea of Plexi-Glass, but I'd probably see if you could score some 'slightly' tinted 'Non-Glare' for this particular job...  A slight tint wouldn't be so 'anti-septic' as a bright hunk of shiny lexon or some type of inexpensive plastic and personally I think it would 'ruin' the look.  The other thing that would probably work (and be a lot less expensive) would be some nice 'cost effective' wooden panels similar in color (either darker or much lighter) to that of the posts..Cheers,Miller Diversion 165120 amp Buzz BoxVictor Oxy/Ace Oxy/LPGSmith "Little" Oxy/LPGHypertherm Powermax 30Lot's of Misc. tools n' crap....
Reply:Phil, really nice work!  Like those cut-outs, nice!  Bob
Reply:You may have already thought of this, But maybe you should install plexiglass take pictures and have them sign something that your finished product included clear acrylic for safety. then they can take it off at there own risk. That should cover your bases..... Thats what i would do....but im not a lawyer.www.performancealuminumfabrication.com
