Right now im learning about v plate. I dont know if any job really uses that type. If you dont know what it is. Its like a butt joint but it has on both sides a 45 degree angel on the metal. you need to do a ton of passes on that weld.
Reply:Well ole buddy, the short answer is, multi-pass groove welds are done every day by thousands of people, myself included. Today. You use it to get full penetration on metal that's too thick for full penetration on a single pass.
Reply:take a gander at pipe work. Only the typical joint has a bevel <45*

Reply:If you look at it you'll see that using the double bevel uses less weld than a single bevel (all from one side). |
