My 8yr old son has to have some kind of valentines box for school so the other kids can put valentines for him in it. He decided he wanted to build his out of metal. This is what we came up with. We made the heart, arrow tip and fletching out of 16ga sheet. The arrow is 3/8" rod. I did the cutting, shaping the sides, fit up and tacking. He ground everything to shape and welded most of the rest of it himself using a MM210. It's 12"tall and 3" thick. He originally wanted to paint it, but now he likes the look of the raw metal.

Reply:Looks very nice. Tell him good job from us.The cynic in me wonders if he'll have an issue with the "zero tolerance" weapons rules most schools have today. I've seen kids get into trouble at Halloween over less "dangerous" or "threatening" things..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear.
