Hello.  I dont post much here, but I have been looking at this site almost daily for a LONG time.  I'm in awe at some of the projects you guys do!!  This project wasnt very exciting, but I took a few pictures, so I figured I'd throw them on here. This basic scope of this project was to pick up a Landscaping bed for one of my customers, Shorten the frame of a cabover medium duty truck he picked up at auction, lengthen the new bed, and install. I should note that he bought this bed off of craigslist for something like $1,000, it was NOS of a co. that was going out of business and needed to get it moved - SO, it wasnt perfect for his situation, but we made it work. Shortening the frame was pretty simple: move the tank up 3', port-a-band 2'9" off each frame rail, and she's done.Lengthening the bed was pretty simple as well; the front of the bed, including the box fit into stake pockets, and bolted to the floor, so I basically just took all that off, cut the stake pockets off, and made a 51" section to add in and put it all back together.  I was given an overall length he wanted on the flat part of the bed, which allows him to carry the mowers he plans on this crew having; Just telling you that as an 'FYI' in case you're wondering where we got some of the odd measurements.  Thats basically it.My complaints on the project:1. He didnt have us paint it when completed.  Now, Im certainly not a fabulous painter, but have done tons of paint on things like this.  He has an employee that cleans up and repaints all their mowers before every season, so I guess he just wanted to keep his own employee busy, which I understand.  BUT, I hate sending out a project that looks cobbled up, or incomplete.2.  The fit up of the original bed was pretty poor.  This was a factory built bed, I assume a 'factory' that builds these would make a jig/fixture for building them quick and square.  This one wasnt square, which made it a lot harder to match.  The wiring was a rats nest of butt conectors.  I ended up just re-wiring the whole thing, which caused me to go slightly out of my quote, but this guy's giving me quite a bit of work, so I ate it. 3.  Not really the fault of this project, but this turned into one of those jobs thats not in a hurry, but every time you get started on it something else urgent comes up.  This should have been a 1 day job at most, but it ended up living in the shop for 3 or 4 days..  Oh well!!Anyway, thanks for the great forum!!
