I can't help it.  It's in my bones.  And I suppose it has something to do with bein' an Okie.AND I JUST GOTTA STAND UP FOR AMERICA, AND SOUTHERN ENGINEERINGDunno if y'all rember this old ugly bumper I threw together a while back.  I've been curious about how well it might hold up.And now the opurtunity presented itself.I got some North Of The Border naysayer (You know who ya are)  casting doubt on the safety of the Uranis Inc. model 1175 Cargo WinchWe at Uranis just don't pull stuff outta Ouranis  We thouroughly test our production runs.Bumper seems to hold up fineA different angle.  Same resultAnd that pesky cargo strap winch seemed to stand the strainAnd how about that Model 100 Uranis front end loader?  Takes a licking and keeps on ticking.^^%%%$#!#& CANOOKS "Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:Not to be "that guy" but really your only putting around 5000 lbs on that assembly max.   most if not all cargo securement is built and designed to a min safety factor of 3:1  so it should at min hold much more than your showing there.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:I have searched hard... and in vain for some pics of some fella with an old IH truck hanging clear of the ground off the end of a  winch cable with the hook over a branch of a huge oak tree... I've seen it but cant' find it...   One tuff bumper Samm... !  You might send in pics to the truck builidng companies who are  selling 1/8*" thick stamped chrome with plastic overlays... like my Dodge... Reply:Woulda never gotten off the ground if WeldingWeb was around at the time.  "It'll never fly".I do owe Jason an apology for the "North of the Border" remarks.  I suppose it was brought on by "cobbled together on the farm".  I'm sure he meant to phrase it in a more gentlemanly manner.  I thought the oversight might be due to some obscure Canadian behavioral instinct common to all in the region.  My remark wasn't fair to the general population of Canada who, I would imagine, don't share the trait.I do appreciate the assistance of all concerned when I was trying to beat my "whipping" habit.  I'm sure further personal assistance would of been of great help.  I'm sure everything built prior to 3yrs ago would have been better for it.  I look at that old front end loader, and all sorts of other stuff, and am amazed it still works.   I will say this has been beneficial though.  It got me to go out and look for the rules governing such devices.  http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regul.../cs-policy.htm  It looks like I need to drop the 1 ton from a smallish cliff to test the applicable G forces.OHP was a little more realistic when I called.  Their criteria, according to the trooper I talked to, is whether the work has been done in a "workmanlike manner".  Discretion is given to the trooper who inspects it I guess.  I hope to God he's not an internet welderBe seein' y'all on a highway or biway near you in the future"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
