Here are a few pics of what my students have been working on over the last few weeks. It is half of a 100 pound propane tank made into a sauna stove for a sauna our building trades class is currently constructing. We fabricated everything except the cast stove door. Kids did all of the welding, it has a stainless pipe running through the stove that will be hooked into the water system in the sauna to heat all of the water. I think that they did a pretty good job. Attached Images

Reply:Niffty! Good project to learn different things on. Now you just need to do a class on forging some log tongs and an ash scoop! Maybe dual purpose it into a smoker to!200amp Air Liquide MIG, Hypertherm Plasma, Harris torches, Optrel helmet, Makita angle grinders, Pre-China Delta chop saw and belt sander, Miller leathers, shop made jigs etc, North- welders backpack.
Reply:Ifallswelder:THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS POST.It brings back some very fond memories of my youth growing up on Lake Superior. My brother built a Sauna stove for his wife's folks (they were originally from Finland). I spent many a Saturday night in that sauna as a kid and really enjoyed it.The only regret I had was that I never got a picture of that stove and my brother passed away before I could get details from him. That was over 50 years ago and this is the first sauna stove build that I have come across since then. If you have any more examples I would be delighted if you would post them.Building a Sauna down here is high on my bucket list. Can you also post the construction details and measurements? Be neat to see a set of building pix's.Once again thanks for bringing back some very fond memories.Glenn.Last edited by Stampeder; 02-19-2012 at 11:52 AM.Sign on East Texas payphone: Calls to God 40 cents......it's a local call... |
