would a milller dx with 169 hrs on it and 4300 strikes scare you away from this machine? Good deal if I can get it for 2000?
Reply:The hours and strikes are not excessive. Which DX version is it? 200DX? 300DX? something else?
Reply:200 dx, it sounds like a lot to me, (rookie) but it breaks down to probably a month of normal commercial use right?
Reply:When was it built?Vinnie
Reply:Built last month... just kidding... it was built in 2006
Reply:I wouldn't expect to see it much cheaper unless it was a scam. Sounds like about what I've seen similar used machines going for. What does it come with?.No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:macjne leads and foot control and tank
Reply:I'd say that makes it a good deal. Most in that range are bare machines or at most have just stick leads. The pedal and cylinder ( since it's got the cylinder it wouldn't surprise me if it comes with the reg also) are an added value you won't have to buy..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:A 2006 machine will not have the Blue Lightning start board technology, though, and no warranty, which you might be able to discuss with the seller for a bit of an additional discount.
Reply:I'd buy it in less then 5 minutes.
Reply:I bought it and all I can say is WOW! What a difference from my chinese tig welder. I have have been one of the luckier ones with the chinese tig. Going on 4 years, one problem bit no big deal and has welded steel and stainless beautifully. Aluminum was another story. Sometime great sometimes not. Being self taught I was thinking it my skill level and lack of experience. You guys here have helped me solve several aluminum problems. HOWEVER... the MIller Dynasty I just got let me lay a stack o" dimes on a crappy cast aluminum oil pan in five minutes instead of the usual 30 it would take with the chinese machine. Between the pulser and AC freq. adjustment I nailed it. All in all The chinese tig worked great on steel and got me by on the aluminum. No complaint other than I didn't realize how much it was holding me back. Two questions on the MIller. Does it make a noise almost like a gas leak or hi freq. of some kind when it is first turned on? And when I turn it off it seem to have something running for a few seconds. Thanks again for your advice.

Reply:Thanks for the info on the noise. And... I did realize there would be a difference... just could not afford Miller right off the bat. I don't feel ripped off at all. It served me well in the begining. 4 yrs later I out grew it. I think they (chinese) tigs serve a purpose if you can find a good supplier. Parker treated me well. and the machine put up with my lack of experience. I didn't go into it blind... I always considered it a stepping stone. Thanks again for your input. I appreciate you pros lending your knowledge. I don't post a lot but I do get a lot of good info on here. |
