When Tig welding on straight polarity, dipping the filler into the puddle makes a little "snap/tick" sound. Anyone know what causes that? Never really thought too much about it but I want to know.Airco Ac/Dc 300 HeliwelderMillerMatic 200 (stolen)Miller Maxstar 150STLMiller AEAD200LE (welding and generating power) Hobart MIG

Reply:Nope, just don't know what causes it. I'm sure it is just the arc breaking due to the cool filler going in, then reestablishing, or something similar to that
Reply:I've heard it in some scenarios, and believe it's the arc conducting through the filler. Try using a different torch angle, or try pulling your tungsten up and/or back a bit as you dab in the filler, or alternately if you're getting a good weld, then just don't worry about it.

Reply:It may be the sound of breaking the surface tension of the puddle. If you can hear it, you're in a quiet shop.http://www.facebook.com/LockhartMetalArthttp://www.facebook.com/pages/Grumpy...44306259043484 |
