I have all of the other accessories from my 181, I would like to just get the box. I haven't called anyone, it's a bit late today...but I don't see any 'a la carte' options from any website. Thoughts?Motorboating...in the Cleavage of the Tetons

Reply:Thanks! Tried to contact them, and left an email already. I didn't see any option for just the machine anywhere on their site. Did you?Last edited by rideit; 10-07-2013 at 09:31 PM.Motorboating...in the Cleavage of the Tetons

Reply:Here is what James from SSC said regarding the Thermal Arc 186 pedal and their (SSC) pedal:"We do not. It’s the same pedal as the 10-4016 (SSC C850-0825 at $178 plus UPS) but the 10-4016 is different than the pedal for the 186 in that it won’t read the preset amps on your machine with the pedal plugged in. The 186’s pedal has an extra circuit in it that disconnects the pedal until it’s depressed. If you want to be able to read the preset amps with the pedal plugged in, you should buy from TA."As far as buying JUST the 186 (and no torches, consumable pack, stinger etc.) - I doubt that'll happen, as they'd have to open up a box and pull the stuff out then repackage it. The NTX Tools deal is pretty smoking if you're looking for this machine (cross posted again):http://www.ntxtools.com/network-tool...-W1006301.htmlI was thinking the cart was a pretty worthless add-on, but it's very well constructed. I later found out it sells individually for well over $200. For comparison, Cyberweld sells the same package as NTX Tools for $1946.

Reply:The part number for the 186 power supply only is W1006300.The machine was designed to be sold as a package and the difference in price might be such that you would rather just buy the package. The remote control connection is an 8-pin, just like the 181i.
Reply:Miller has done that with Smith...I think it's a bad idea to kill a well known name. Black with yellow trim? Looks like a halloween edition. Units used in the open outside in the sun, in the south will die from heat stroke with that black paint...no matter the duty cycle.Last edited by lugweld; 10-08-2013 at 08:56 AM.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT

Reply:Looks like my best bet is the package and pedal. I will probably have a bunch of extras to sell on here afterwards, up to and including an entire 181i package.Motorboating...in the Cleavage of the Tetons
Reply:T/A seems to want to bundle some stuff these days. For example, the little 161S stick welder is bundled with a TIG torch and regs. But it's not much of a TIG welder with no gas solenoid and no remote. They discontinued the 161STL which did have these features and more.If the pedal for the 181i does have all 8 wires in the cable (and not cut too short), you could probably add a switch on the side of the pedal to allow the preview."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder

Reply:I think Victor/Thermal Arc/Tweco/Whatever have jumped the shark. The 3-in-1 units looked good when they came out but the mixed reviews have made me stop recommending them. This re-branding only adds to the look of desperation. I have a nice old Thermal Arc TIG machine but I'm afraid it will be my last.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:Well, John, what units in the 186's price come even remotely close, performance wise? Serious q.Motorboating...in the Cleavage of the Tetons
Reply:Originally Posted by FernTJCyberweld $1946 includes the foot pedal and cart. Without cart or foot pedal Cyberweld lists $1598, and with pedal no cart $1719. They have the 186 pedal for $190 and list the fabricator pedals under a different part number for $167. That looks like a great deal over on Network Tool, but I would definitely get the pedal for it. |
