What would be a good transistor based machine capable of AC/DC Tig and stick? I would like to be able to stick weld but have the capability to learn to Tig aluminum and stainless.
Reply:Better be some BIG transistors, or a whole bunch of them for a tig welder.Think maybe you meant TRANSFORMER based.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.

Reply:I grew up on the Econotig. You can still find a complete setup on craigslist for about 400-1200. The machine retailed for $1500. It is the original dynasty if you call it that.

Reply:The Ecotig was NEVER the "original Dynasty".The Ecotig was/is a transformer based small/simple tig/stick welder. If anything the Ecotig was the predecessor to the Diversion, but a completely different machine.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.
