anyone, 450 maxtron set-up guestion

Im trying to get my new-to-me maxtron 450 going, I have sticked (SMAW) with it, now i want to MIG, this has a XR-M wire feeder on it, gun is a Miller 15W (XRM) push pull. The feeder is NOT very user friendly. and that is where i think the problem is, as it was being used to mig Titanium wire when i bought it. I'm pretty sure it is a operator error type problem. It will JOG the wire fine, but when i pull the triger on the gun , nothing happens. I have the manual (for the welder but not for the WF) but does not help at all. where should my 4 toggle sw. be set at... MODE, OUT Control, Arc force, and A/V...anybody have the XR-M feeder?

Reply:I have since downloaded a manual, I had unpluged the coolmate when i was stick welding, I see there is a water flow switch, so maybe i will hook up the water and check the program set ups and hope i don't smoke it.....still have to figure out how to put my own program in the and delete some of the junk that is in there now...this ain't easy stuff for a old man who was brought up using a slide ruler and PC's wern't even invented yet.....

Reply:no error messages, I think i have the panel sw. right on the maxtron, it is the feeder that is bugging me, and it was being used just recently so i know it is a working setup. I just gotta read the manual (dang-it)...
Reply:I think i have the feeder set up, Program 7, sequence numbers are in there, duel mode is off , and CARD is off. the front led display mirrors the seq. of the side set-up. my 4 toggles on the max are, right(MIG), second is panal (all the way to the left, third is 14/17 and forth is panal. but still no spark or wire feed when i try to weld, Now , i do not have the argon bottle hooked up, do u think it needs to be hooked up. also the two led windows on the max say ooo, actually the volt window is at .006 and amp is at  001 nothing changes when i pull the triger, i can hear a "click" i think is the gas solenoid opening , but nothing else....seems odd...
Reply:some progress....I think the feeder is funtioning fine, I don't have another feeder to use anyway. i took off the panels on both sides of the max, wigeled lots of wires (this time i un-pluged it first) and turned it on, the amp window on the maxtron went up to 120 .... volt window still at 006, A/V dial does vary the amps, still no volt showing....and still no spark when i trigger gun...I can't remember how the windows responded when i stick welded.....HMMMMMMMM can u shed some light on the 14 remote and the 17 remote, they are both hooked up to the feeder, is that normal?
Reply:with remote14 and 17 unpluged there was not much differance, i put them back on and set the contactor sw (third on down on the max.) to the ON position and i got 70 volts, but nothing in the amp window, i then touched the wire to my work and spark-o, but wire still would not feed, if it had , i would be migen...but i have no control to the volts, nothing i turned varied the voltage at all. and my amp window is not back to 000....seem like whenever i put it in the remote position, i would loose my voltage. but should the wire be HOT even though i did not pull the trigger? as it was when it sparked, i read something as to a trigger LOCK on the feeder....but could not find anything in the menu when i page thru it....?????
Reply:I went back to square one today, stick. all four sw are toggled left. I can strike a arc, i turn V up bigger ark, i turn V down , little spart or sticky rod....looks right? I do have a cobramatic with push/pull gun, can i put that on and try it? the cobra has a two lug twist plug for it's run current, how would i incorperate it into the 14 or 17 pin recyptacal on the max...
Reply:question, when i press teh JOG button on the xr feeder, shouldn't the rollers in the xrW gun also turn on, like the rollers in the feeder?? wondering because they do NOT.....u know what pins are the motor in the gun?
