Saw this gate set between some home built posts & bracing today. Just had to take some pics. I didn't pick and poke at it cuzz it isn't mine but even at a glance it was obvious that it was a mig/wire feed operation. Out in nowhere so probably off a genset. Reply:But after what you see in pic #4 I was driving down the road thinking back to the mid 80's when migs were selling like hot cakes at flea markets and such. You know, the same places you got seat covers and stereos, used tools or homier tools. Any way I remember at the time some off brand machines about the size of two bread boxes were being sold for about a hundred bucks a piece. No hoses, regulators or gauge, just the machine and a roll of solid wire. This job made me think about that as I was heading back for the barn. Reply:That's funny!! I used my mig w/ solid wire and no gas to put gobbers on the rungs of my ramps for loading 4 wheeler or anything w/ wheels too heavy to lift. It worked good, made a nice rough surface.                                          MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw

Reply:maybe he needs one of them stickers on his migTURN THE GAS ON DUMMY i saw a guy that "knew how to weld" do this same sh*t on some reinforceing plates on an oil filled chaincase.he wondered why the welds leaked oil, and why i was so pissed at having to spend a day grinding out his "welds" and doing the job right.   thankfully he didnt last too long after that fiasco              I'm a legend in my spare time
