I was told the open side is where a chute will be installed..If that was not the case then this would make no sense at all..The box is made from 3/16" HRS...045 70S-2 filler..200 amps max..3/32" red..One more post.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:It's just a sad world when you have to do stuff like this for a church. Stealing from a church, there is a good way to get struck by lightning. Good work as always Zap!kidtigger24  They think I’m crazy, but I know better. It is not I who am crazy. It is I who am MAD!

Reply:....but he's already using enough heat to melt the 3/16 corner joint at 200a.That would easily take care of a lot thicker filler rod and I think the thickerfiller would help cool the bead if that was the case. I'm hoping it's some secret experimental technique that will help lead me tomy next 'AHH HAAAA' moment. How do you know the blacksmith's dog? When you hollar at him he makes a bolt for the door!
Reply:Ugh, well that's embarrassing lol. Can't I just delete my previous reply?Dang I still have a lot to learn.**Thanks zap.Peddling back and using the little wire, I'm still getting closerto my ah ha moment! **How do you know the blacksmith's dog? Reply:That'll work. Getting tough around here with theft too. Someone asked me about a former employee that was my sons caregiver, told him that she came to work with a hammer. Reply:Zap,Looks to me like the box needs a shelf to keep one from just sticking his hand in the box.Shelf on a angle which doesn't extend all the way to the rear of the box would allow money to "drop in" but would prevent someone from just reaching in.Man, you don't need any more tig practice.  You got to get a mig.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.
Reply:Looks to me that Zap's simply showing what the church wanted him to fab. His welding skill is not in question... so one fabs what is asked. I really enjoy seeing his tig welds.DannyMy SiteJust worrying 'bout what I can't get to today.

Reply:Zapster, that's one good looking box and I'm sure up to the job. There is one area that looks very weak and I would like you to test it. I think it would take about a minute to get into it and without any noise.I did this with another porject that used larger hinges than what you used. A large set of channel locks will unroll the hinges from around the hinge pins, and hasp, then you can lift the top off. In my project, I over stressed the hinge and straighteded the rolls out, I then used channel locks to wrap the hinge rolls back around the hinge pins, and welded the rolled portion back to the hinge flange. It will be ten times stronger.Try a large set of channel locks and see if you can unroll the rolled portion of the hinge from around the pin.
