Wondering if anyone knows where I can pick up some 16-18 gauge pipe around 9" in diameter?  Everything local is thick when it comes to that size of pipe. The Lord has declared, "This is my work and my glory--to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man"  Moses 1:39Link: My name is John, and I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.-- ColdCreekWorks.com --
Reply:Check with mechanical contractors who deal with blower pipes. There is ussally a seam on this kind of pipe though.Miller xmt304,  Miller S22 p12, Miier Maxstar SD, Miller 252 w 30A, Miller super32p12, Lincoln Ranger 9, Thermal Arc 181I with spoolgun, Hypertherm 10000 ,Smith torches. Esab 161lts miniarc.
Reply:Would rolling 16 or 18 gauge sheet metal into pipe and then welding the seam work?Lincoln pro core 125 14''chop saw7 inch grinder,2-4.5 inch grinders, electric die grinder.Half inch drillAnd alot of hand tools

Reply:I would roll it by hand and lap joint the seam if you can stand the lap joint configuration. if not then I would run a sample butt weld playing with the laying of the joint so you don't create a peak when welded.  You may want to weld the seam flat and then unclamp and let cool hoping you have some spring back.  if not then you will need to work the joint till you get the roundness you want.  That is why i would lap joint it if allowed.  easier to keep the roundness.if you need to fix the roundness you can make a simple brake and use to bump the pipe back into round.  don't be aggressive here.  you will have to use a light touch.Last edited by Scott Young; 11-10-2013 at 09:28 PM.

Reply:If you stop calling it pipe and ask for tubing, you might get what you want.

Reply:This is what I learned today. Never, ever, type in "9 inch tube" into a search engine.
Reply:I wonder if typing in "9 inch tubing" would make a difference?  I'm not gonna try it.  Mikey can try it.
