my instructor brought me a gift on the last day of his job at the school .it was a fibermetal pipeliner with a Lincoln super visibility lens its the old style glass one the clarity is sooooooooo good i didnt know what i had till i got home to order more and i got sticker shock .i will never part with this lens at all but what other options are out there ? i have a hobart new gold lens just dont seem the same as the old ones i have a orange lens i can see the contaminants a lot quicker when i TIG .i would love to find some more cobalt lenses in shade 10 also looking for the old glass silver lens to try been looking on ebay but i cant afford 350 to 1,000 for a peace of glass so my only option is newer stuff that is close to what i like any ideas ?Quote Originally Posted by vwguy3  View PostHave you ever seen a cow that was welding overhead burst into flames my certs as of 1/29/14SMAW3G plate 2,4,6, 6Ghard wire and flux core 3GGTAW2,4,6 6G3G plate SS sch 80 6G
Reply:Last time I seen a Cool Blue lens must have been in the 70s. I used the Lincoln Super Visibility lenses for years. Few years ago I went on a buying spree, I bought several different brands of lenses because I couldn't see. Come to find out I needed cataract surgery. Like being born again! I do like the gold lenses form Phillips Safety Products. Now I just use the auto lens from ArcOne.  http://www.phillips-safety.com/weldi...ng-lenses.htmlhttp://www.arc1weldsafe.com/auto-darkening-filters.html Attached ImagesDon’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:I use an Omni View gold lens, but they need to be of old Gentex manufacture, the Harris ones are not the same. You can get them off EvilBay for 5 bucks. This is what you want.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."

Reply:I don't remember the brand but I just bought glass lenses from Praxair, work fine for me in shades 9-12. I don't like the plastic, even the gold ones.Airco Ac/Dc 300 HeliwelderMillerMatic 200 (stolen)Miller Maxstar 150STLMiller AEAD200LE (welding and generating power) Hobart MIG

Reply:What's the puddle look like in a super visibility lens? I've only used the Hobart and Phillips Safety golds. One comes out blueish green... kind of teal, and the other is amber. I don't remember which is which though since I switch back and forth and carry them in a glasses case.I really wish Jackson would make an auto lens kit with their Balder crap. I'd love to use one in the pipeliner hood.WeldTek Ice Blue... if the pictures are legit, seems like an almost comparable lens. Not paying $125 though.Last edited by akabadnews; 11-11-2013 at 09:31 AM.
Reply:Those gold phillips lense can you run flux with them or will they burn your eyes Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
Reply:I won't even consider using any lense that is not auto.  I have a Miller big window elite, it's really nice, has all kinds of knobs and adjustments, really pretty paint job, really nice...... What do I use every day?  A Huntsman paper inspector hood with a Radnor auto lense and a flap of leather on the chin.  Anyone that has used it (without my permision) has been shocked at how well it works.  Is it adjustable? Yes and no, if it's too bright, put on shades under the hood.   The Huntsman is a $70 hood with lense, the Miller is $320.  The miller is much better but it is delicate, don't let it fall off the table, the Huntsman/Radnor, is light and it's tough as nails, ugly as haell but does not let me down, no batteries required. What was the question.

Reply:I like the "Comfort" lens by Oki Bering.  Cheap, and a nice amber hue.
