Aluminum tig welds

These are my first tig welds on aluminum, let me know what you think. Attached Images
Reply:Not bad. Your consistency looks fairly decent in the 1st two picts. The beads look a bit grainy, so you might be overheating the material. We could tell you more however if we knew what your settings were and how thick the material is. The more info you give up front, the better suggestions you will get on threads like this..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:Looks like you were too low on amps, or you started the puddle really slow. With aluminum you need to get the puddle going as soon as you can, to do that you need to give it lots of amps as soon as you hit the pedal. You also need to work on backing off on the foot pedal after the aluminum is saturated with heat. Dipping looks a bit inconsistent but I see a few places that look like you were doing good. Reply:So I should start the machine at about 150 and start hot get a puddle quickly and then back off the pedal just enough to keep the puddle consistent. Then start adding filler evenly and consistently throughout the weld.
