ok i have a 350 p with a Bernard qt3-45 gun with center fire tips. ive got my wire tension set fine ? but i have slack in my wire at the gun i can grab my wire and pull and push back and forth moves bout 3/8-1/2 inch. i will snip it then move to where im gonna weld and and its twice as long or other direction and it disappears lol. is there something else i need to adjust or is that just the way it is ? maybe a dumb question but i just kinda wonder this is my first miller /Bernard gun never had this happen with either of the Lincoln's that i can remember so i had to ask350P 30A spool gun cut master 51 syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off
Reply:Get a smaller liner. And don't have too many curves in your gun lead.My name's not Jim....
Reply:thats what i was thinking but the way i read it was. it was set up for 035 maybe i was wrong will have to check it again. guess its 045 but can be used 035 by just changing tips like i have it. came with an 035 jump liner cant find in the book if all i have to do is change the jump liner or the whole liner ?Last edited by umahunter; 07-01-2011 at 06:31 PM.350P 30A spool gun cut master 51 syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off
Reply:All I know is if the liner is too big and/or you have coils in your gun lead, you will have wire length changes as you move the gun around. My name's not Jim....
Reply:always try to keep the gun straight lol but it seems mostly because the over sized liner the bernard 035-045 is just an 045 that you use with a 035 tip don't know yet if they make a specific or just dual size350P 30A spool gun cut master 51 syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off
Reply:Same setup I have at work, same results, doesn't interfere at all if you keep your whip reasonably straight....Mike
Reply:on a side note the center fire is awesome only drawback on mine is the fat head doesnt fit in tight spots aswell350P 30A spool gun cut master 51 syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off
Reply:Pretty much every wire feeder I have ever ran is like that to some extent - To my logic it is inherent to the design, and having the drive rolls so far from the contact tip. I never worry about it, I just "Tap" the wire back into the contact tip so that all the slack it taken up downstream of the drive rolls, and it feeds consistently without the pause after the intial arc that can lead to burnback into the contact tip.Good Advice to keep gun as straight as possible. If corners are neccessary, make them as gradual as possible - Turn the feeder if needed. The liner in my Tweco Compact Gold Eliminator is good up to 1/16" I think, but I run 0.035" through it all the time. Not an issue.Carry on.Later,Jason |
