I just found out last week that Miller has purchased Weldcraft just like they did with Smith torches. I have been eyeballing the Crafter Series 300a air cooled torch for a while and was going to buy one after Christmas. Was looking for specs on another torch and the Weldcraft site now dumps to Miller where it explains the changes that will be made. Guess what one of the changes were......NO MORE CRAFTER SERIES! I quick called Arc-Zone and they had one of the CS300-25' 2pc with valve in stock and she said that they probably will not be getting any more either. Now that Miller is not keeping the Crafter Series line, will I still be able to get parts for it if I manage to somehow cook this one? They were not very clear about that but the website did go into great detail about the new numbering system instead of the usual Weldcraft designation.TOO MANY TOOLS & NO MORE SPACE
Reply:I don't think you'll have anything to worry about getting parts in this lifetime (or the torch's lifetime).FWIW, one of the original founders of Weldcraft went off and built his own company – TecTorch.com – which manufactures torches that have interchangeable parts with, and in some ways are better built than, the Weldcraft torches. You should be able to get parts on ebay and elsewhere for the next 100 years or so...
Reply:I did not know that about TecTorch. The bad part is that nobody else has a 300a air cooled torch. I might have to justify a Coolmate3TOO MANY TOOLS & NO MORE SPACE
