So if you saw my other thread you know I ordered the eastwood tig welder. It's not here yet and I'm new to the foot pedal and want to get some really basic questions answered.Do you have your tow at the top of the pedal and push down with your heel or push down with your toes? When you set the welder to parent control, you still use the foot pedal to start the arc I assume, but say you set it for 100amps on parent control. Does that mean no matter how far you push the pedal you will be at 100 amps?Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:I don't know about the Eastwood pedal, but normal pedals are push down with your toe. The start switch should be in the pedal and there would be a potentiometer in it for variable control. You set the range on your machine and use pedal for adjustment within that range.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.
Reply:I did a rework on an old P&H Tig machine recently. The previous owner had welded up a strap of aluminum to aft end of the foot pedal to create a 1/2" tall heel cup. Made it very easy to position your foot on the pedal. Its a mod I'm considering for my own TIG machine. --zip

Reply:The Miller foot control I have has a little lip molded into the plastic. I'm not sure the stationary lip with a moving pedal will work as well.Dynasty200DX w/coolmate1MM210MM VintageESAB miniarc161ltsLincoln AC225Victor O/A, Smith AW1ACutmaster 81IR 2475N7.5FPRage3Jancy USA1019" SBAEAD-200LE

Reply:Good lord people, its a foot pedal. Not some super-sensitive pressure sensor from NASA. I don't think there's a body part that I haven't used to work the pedal at this point. Just do however works for you.Oh, and like mentioned this: Is just another reason why Miler>Lincoln. I HATE those lip-less Lincoln pedals. To answer the second part of your question, the amperage will vary depending on how far you have the pedal depressed. Just like a car.Last edited by sn0border88; 07-11-2011 at 09:13 PM.Have we all gone mad?

Reply:The foot pedal doesn't look like the rest, but I will see what works best. I just didn't know if there was right or wrong way.http://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-s-a...00-welder.htmlTorchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
