So I'm been looking into these for a little while and I think I'm more confused than ever. Are they all made by different companies?Do they all have built in gas solenoid valves? From what I have gathered is the 181 does not, can't find much on the 211 and read that the 252 has both. For the 2 that have just 1 valve do they work for both mig and tig? Also looking at the torch with a button do you need the button to start the arc or is it always hot where I can scratch start and not need a button on the torch. I've never been a fan of bulky oem torches with buttons so if I can use a standard torch with no button and lift/scratch start then I may be game for this. And anyone have a up close pic of the display?Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:Should be able to download the manual which will have a close up.
Reply:I know from experience that the 181i only has a solenoid for the mig function only. The tig function has the valve on the torch. The 252i Technical brochure show advance function with preflow for tig to be 0 - 5 seconds, so I would assume it does have the gas soleniod. http://victortechnologies.com/IM_Upl...es_3-30-12.pdfThe 211i Technical brochure shows no such advanced functions for preflows.   http://victortechnologies.com/Therma...SB_3-30-12.pdfLast edited by shovelon; 05-23-2013 at 05:56 PM.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li  ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.
Reply:all info a click or two awayhttp://victortechnologies.com/Thermal%20Arc%203in1/181iFit the welding grade shielding gas regulator/flowmeter to the shielding gas cylinder (refer to Section 3.14) then connect the shielding gas hose from the TIG torch to the regulator/flowmeter outlet. Note that the TIG torch shielding gas hose is connected directly to the regulator/flowmeter. The power source is not fitted with a shielding gas solenoid to control the gas flow in TIG mode therefore the TIG torch will require a gas valve.as mentioned by Shovelon- gas solenoid is for MIGSame for the 211iFit the welding grade shielding gas regulator/flowmeter to the shielding gas cylinder (refer to Section 3.06) then connect the shielding gas hose from the TIG torch to the regulator/flowmeter outlet. Note that the TIG torch shield- ing gas hose is connected directly to the regulator/flowmeter. The power source is not fitted with a shielding gas solenoid to control the gas flow in LIFT TIG mode therefore the TIG torch will require a gas valve.252- gas solenoid is for both Mig and TigEd Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge
Reply:Thanks! Do you need the button to start welding or is it hot as soon as it touches the metal?Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:The 181i and the 211i have the same operating controls and only a solenoid valve for the mig gun.  You also need a switch to start the tig either 2t or 4t  or a hand control or foot pedal. A valve on the torch  or if I use my ck torch that I bought for the 252 I I just use the valve on the flow meter.  I bought the thermal arc tig torch when I bought the 181i but now I would just buy the ck set up instead.. gamble if you can make it to the Michigan clinic on June 1st I will have both welders there and self-shielded wire both stainless and mild steel also a purge kit for stainless dairy tubing
