Any one know what this is?

I picked up Miller Diversion 165 and Spectrum 875, Both came with some extra's, When I was loading everything up, the guy asked if I knew what this was and taking a quick look I guessed it was a laser pointer..We were talking me showing my son how to tig weld with this unit..but it turns out after cleaning everything up and looking over everything..it is NOT a laser pointer..So what is it and how do you use it?Miller 211 & Spoolmate 100Miller Diversion 165Miller Spectrum 875
