Skids are so in for 2011. Heres the beginning of mine. Acc. Ox. And Argon holes. Going to put a hose wrap in the dead space behind the last bottle hole. Space is for a Trailblazer 302 to mount with enough space to put two lead trees off the right hand side. Attached Images

Reply:Negative, lift out only. But im a young gun so its not a big deal for me..... yet. I wanted something really solid to hold the bottles. Im going to put a bolt on each bottle so I dont have to listen to them clank while I drive.
Reply:I would add some type of plate on top of your bottles.  Almost like the top plate you have, but with smaller holes.  It will grab the necks of the bottles and with some all thread and nuts, keep them from clanking as well.  The big thing about it would be that you can put some padlocks on it and make your bottles harder to walk away.
Reply:Im with stick man Looks good man, I like the tank holders.  The bottle thing...lol Last week I was carrying an oxygen tank across the yard and the gas supplier said "what the hells wrong with you man?"  Im young, and need this tank on a line now! I replied. Were young, i just wonder how long I can do that before screwing myself up.You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else. Albert Einstein

Reply:I had that very same thought about a top plate for locking the bottles. But I think im going to to see if I can't come across some spare cylinder caps and weld eyes to each one and then chain them all up.
Reply:Screw that!  seperate the top into two pieces and convert it into a clamp that bolts together on the ends.  Get rid of two of those pipes and add uprights to the solid side, and have the one side come right off and out of the way!  Down the road, you will save yourself a WORLD of headache! Reply:Loaded it up today.  Needs a few more hooks for  a few more thingys.  Also, look at that vintage acetylene bottle. I say vintage because you cant get those anymore. ha. Sure hope propylene  bottles match the same diameter as #4 acetylene because the holes are already perfected. Attached Images
Reply:Are you going to put lifting lugs on it?"Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:I dont know. I picked it between the machine and the bottles and it was alittle too heavy machine side... so I gotta get a more centered pick on it. Ill be tinkering with it this weekend
Reply:hence the ".....yet"
Reply:I used to lift mine in and out....then I got wiser. Older and hurt makes you work smarter than when you were younger. Had my back not gotten hurt, I might still be using that set-up. It worked very well.My skid is lopsided weight-wise as well. I just use a point on the skid and the machine point to lift it. Works like a champ. Attached ImagesQamuIs Heg qaq law' lorvIs yInqaq puS
Reply:Here's one that shows the points a little better. Maybe this will give you an idea or two. Attached ImagesQamuIs Heg qaq law' lorvIs yInqaq puS
Reply:that really did give me an idea. I was really unsure about picking from the machine point. I like the two point pick I just have to check headroom on the gantry. Thanks for those pics. I like your dolly too. Im going to hit grainger this afternoon and order some big casters. The furniture dollies arent cutting it.My next problem is to find a simple method of anchoring it to the bed of the truck. Four bolts through the bed? I know some people arent thrilled with mounting to the bed.
Reply:If it will be removed often just throw a ratchet strap over it. When I haul mine on my trailer I use a chain and binder."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:I have four bolt tabs on the corners. Thru the bed has worked extremely well. Truth be told, I usually end up only using two on opposite corners. The machine doesn't move  at all and it takes only 15 minutes to mount or take it off.The dolly was a necessity since it was always in the way at the shop. I just built it out of scrap I had on hand. Northern is the cheapest for casters. I got those at Tractor Supply. I'd run away screaming from Grainger. I have never seen such highway robbery and it be legal.QamuIs Heg qaq law' lorvIs yInqaq puS
Reply:i use a rather large account's price break at grainger. The prices usually come out rather nice actually.  Airgas on the other hand. I think they make up numbers on the spot.
Reply:You get this thing done yet? I want to see it painted and in action. How are the bottler working out also? I am going to build another one and like the design. You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else. Albert Einstein
Reply:yeah, its been finished for a while. The bottle rack is Ok. Ive got a 45 degree rack on another skid that puts the regulators right  and chin level from the ground. easier to setup and break down. Ill have to snap some pics.Local 597
