Reply:Fishinsin: Nice work on some big pipe. When you saw mig, are you running barewire or dualshield FCAW? I work in a boiler shop and we run a lot of dualshield but little to no hardwire. What sort of inspection is done on that type or work, xray i presume? beautiful work man!
Reply:It's all pulse, .045 wire, there's a butt weld on the 48" that got a ut the rest of the joints had a visual inspectionUA local 32Team weld-coolTeam miller elite tack upMiller pro-staff

Reply:POST #6 is my favorite. Awesome craftsmanship ! That's why we get the big bucks !
Reply:When I saw the first sentence in the post I thought it would be some REALLY MASSIVE PIPE, 48 feet, WOW. But I guess it was a typo. Nice work on all of what you showed. Does this have to fit in a precise place, or will other pipe be added to it in the field after these pieces are installed? I would hate to know I had to make it where ALL the flanges bolted right up on the first try to an existing system. What is going to be going thru this line?
Reply:Really nice work, welds look 1st class!I like the fume exhaust you have on the swing out arm in your shop - does it get used very often or too much trouble?I am curious about orienting the flange plates as well, do you put a level across what looks like magnetic studs coming out of a couple bolt holes? What kind of tolerance do you have to hold for orienting those flanges.Nice work, thanks for sharing.
Reply:The swing arms setup with pneumatic brakes and swings out to about 40 feet, has the smoke eater, power for grinders, has the wire feed unit setup with .035 and .045 wire and a water cooler, also has a tig setup, it gets used all the time, the owner of the company has put a lot of thought into the shopThose are two hole pins to orient the flanges, I believe there's something like 2 degrees between flanges,Last edited by Fishinsin station; 04-22-2012 at 12:48 AM.UA local 32Team weld-coolTeam miller elite tack upMiller pro-staff
