He hasn't been on lately, but he at least made a commitment to the site a while back when he became a service provider and paid for the "ad".There are plenty of other guys here who have tables as well..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:I know Jim Colt runs one. I think he also runs a Torchmate table as well. He can probably tell you what you want to know..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Originally Posted by shovelonPlasmaCam also markets thier entry level table called the GoTorch. It is quite inexpensive, but you need a college degree to figure out the options to make it work. ... Don't know if it has the digital height control as an option or not. But as a PlasmaCam product, it is not bad at all. Me, I put buy a Hypertherm 45 cutter to go with it. http://www.gotorch.com/order-low-cost-cnc/
Reply:All of the cnc tables are worth the money if used for what they are made for. The PlasmaCam has (arguably....others may disagree) what I think is the simplest and easiest to learn software, as well as the quickest and easiest to use from a draw the part to cut the part point of view. If you buy the PlasmaCam stripped (no height control, no advanced software) like any machine, it will not perform anywhere near as well as it will with advanced software and height control.Any machine without height control will need to be babysat for every cut. My PlasmaCams with height control can cut 100 or more parts while I mow the lawn. These machines work as good as the video once you get through the software and operation learning curve. It could take weeks to months to be able to make any cnc machine work as well as the advertisements show....be prepared for that!Jim Colt  Hypertherm Originally Posted by galencwiIs it worth the money.   Does it work as good and simple as the video shows..   I'm looking to use it daily for art and custom projects
Reply:I thought about a plasma cam, and heard a lot of mixed reviews. However based on my budget, support and how easily you can add on other accessories I went with a 2x2 torchmate. I got the refurb unit, and was a member of their forum for over a year (which nets you 10%) off so I was in for the 2x2 setup for about $2500. No height control as it's a costly upgrade, but maybe later, for now it will be great to learn on and grow with. I can't say what is better than the other as I have no experience with any of them, but I bought what fits my budget. Also the gotorch did seem pretty appealing, but I bought the torchmate 2x2 water table last year so I was just going to stick with it and I was already familiar with their software.Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:Originally Posted by InsanerideThanks for that link Shovelon. It looks like it uses a manual torch handle. That would save about $800 for a CNC torch but, does that meen no "digital height control"?
