Hey yall!!So, I first started welding in 2009, and all along Ive never had a decent welding table. And at long last, I've decided to build one. I made a heavy duty frame from 4x4x3/8" angle and some wide channel, then topped it with a 5/16" plate that I got at the steel yard. Someday when I can afford to, Ill get something bigger and heavier. But for now this is a huge improvement over the trash bin I was welding on before, and Im very happy with it. I tried it out tonight on a lawn mower repair for a buddy, and it made it worth building. I did all the frame welds with 7018, I burned 3/32" rod on the vertical ups, and 1/8" rods on... pretty much everything else. Any/all feedback is welcome. Anyway, I just wanted to share. I now know how you guys can get all caught up in who has the biggest/baddest table I hope you enjoy the videos, and have a good, safe week this week. Happy welding, everyone!! Reply:Looks good Lance! I watched the first video of the series a few days ago (I am suscribed and I recived a notification in my email) and I was hoping to watch the others. Did you make the lower shelf smaller (recessed) than the frame itself so you don't bang your sheens agains it all the time? If not, you can always make it a tad shorter, at least on one side.Mikel

Reply:If the table top is wider than the base it would be easier to clamp to the table, now you can only clamp to the sides. And for painting, don't. just take a 7" or 9" grinder and lay the disk flat on the table and grind off any spatter or rust that is on the table. If you paint it you wont be able to weld tabs to the table when you make jigs.
Reply:Nice job! Are you going to add receiver tube ?? It really has its advantages. Keep up the good work. |
