how do these differ? can i use the snapstart with the cc /ac on my bobcat for aluminum?

Reply:Note while your Bobcat has AC capability, it doesn't have the 14 pin connector to run a remote pedal like the older Trailblazers did. AC tig with no pedal on alum is not easy. Think long and hard about it before you dump the money into an HF box. I'd strongly suggest you try to weld alum on AC without a pedal 1st to see how tough this is going to be and see if it will accomplish what you want to do.With alum tig you usually want to hit it hard and fast with a bunch of amps to get the puddle going, then move and back off the amps with the pedal as you go. With no remote amperage control you will be stuck setting your amps at a fixed setting your only real control will be arc length and travel speed, with some filler control to possibly chill the puddle. Expect to have to run this like a raped ape, going faster and faster to try and stay ahead of the material heating up. It's doable, but requires a lot of tig experience and skill. It's not for the average or newer tig welder.A better option would be an inverter AC/DC tig plugged into the aux power on your Bobcat, or an older model AC/DC trailblazer with the 14 pin connection and the HF box..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:i get that.i can handle hot and fast. have been gathering some material to convert the bobcat to a 14 pin..so far i've got the 110 volt contactor, a 5 amp 24vac relay,i'm waiting on a 110-24 vac transformer and a 14 pin female faceplate mount plug..i recon i can then run a footpedal through the hf251....what do you say duane?can it be done? what footpedal do i need, my bobcat has a 15 ohm 150 watt reostat..
