Is the amp/wire speed meter worth the extra $400 on a 8vs that going to be used for farm repairThanksThe main thing is not to panic or get excited Bobcat 250, X-Treme 12VS,  MM211Meltabo, Milwaukee,Porter Cable,Dewalt,MakitaVictor O/A, Ingersoll-RandEvolution Rage2, 40 amp PlasmaLincoln 225 AC/DC
Reply:Not to me it's not. I remember when welders didn't come with gauges, you had to learn how to read the puddle, and adjust accordingly. Don’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:The only time i really use the meters on the LN-25's is if I'm setting the power source after adding a ton of lead or if I'm verifying the WPS to the inspector without him probing my leads if hes being super pricky.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:Depends on how critical you are. There is a considerable voltage drop on the vs feeder and it seems to not always be the same. The feeder holds the last "actual" voltage that was at the feeder on display for a few seconds after you  stop welding. This is really helpful if you are trying to fine tune the voltage and your by yourself. I have the vs and the rc feeders and can say that the vs feeder takes much more tuning to get it set right which is why i would recommend the meters. Nick

Reply:The VS stands for voltage sensing. This allows the vs feeder to run of the hot lead alone without the need for a control cable that is used in conventional feeders as well as the rc feeder. There is a handful of variables  that create the voltage drops. Power source, lead quality, lead length to name a few. Its not an issue as long as you are aware of it and make the proper adjustments.
Reply:How much of a benefit is the 8vs over using the MM211 for farm work?Just curiousEd Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge
Reply:211 is a shop welder. The outdoors and especially farm type atmosphere would put a pretty good beating on it. Dirt, mud, rain, ect.  Those extreme feeders can be run over by a truck in the rain while welding and still keep ticking. Dropped one of mine of a high lift at like 20 ft and barley had a scratch. Cant say enough about them.
Reply:Knocked one of these off some stagging about 40-feet to the ground. Went done tied a rope to it, pulled it back up, and went back to work. Reply:I don't know about $400 worth. But I would prefer to have the meters because, I don't use them enough to remember my preferred settings, so it would be a convenient crutch. And although I can manually get mine set properly, it would really speed things up."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
