I am sure I will have LOTS of newbie questions since we just bought our first MIG.My gauge is in l/min. What gas pressure should I use for 100% argon MIG welding aluminum ?Thanks,J
Reply:Is there a reason you are using straight argon? I assume the work material is steel?

Reply:Is "l/min" Liters per min(flow not pressure)?
Reply:If you are inside with little air movement I would set it at 15 CFH(cubic feet per hour) and adjust from there if need be.Check to see if you have a dual scale gauge...L/min and CFH other wise you might be able to find a conversion chart on the net.Last edited by vwguy3; 08-24-2011 at 09:46 PM.
Reply:http://www.esabna.com/EUWeb/FM_handbook/577fm10_3.htmgoogle - 15 cfh = lpm?and that is the first answer and will give you a good selection of flow rates.
Reply:How thick is the aluminum, and what MIG welder are you using?Jack OlsenMy garage website
Reply:Pretty sure we have covered this before But mig welding aluminum without a spool gun Is not fun......unless you have a push pullset up like the miller machines use...Also I would say at least 180 amps Miller Dynasty 350Twenty Six HammersThree Crow BarsBig Rock
Reply:hope you have a spool gun the wires going to break in your liner
Reply:BC,who are you foolin?I'd bet you have a 25' gun set up to push .035 4043 as we speak....no?When someone asks me about pushing aluminum I say it's like nailing Jello to a tree......impossible? no,but your gonna need a 55 gallon drum of patience.

Reply:I did find this: Conversion Formulas: cfh x .472195 = L/min and L/min x 2.12 = cfhWOW I shoulda looked at my gauge better. My gauge shows Litters Per Min as L/Min 5-30 and Scfh 0-60So it does show Standard Cubic Feet per Hour also.J
Reply:if its a ball type regulator just run the ball about 3/4 of the way up when the trigger is pulled.......That should be enough gas to do what you want........ Miller Dynasty 350Twenty Six HammersThree Crow BarsBig Rock |
