It's on a craftsman pro 20559 welder.  The tweco gun has an integral manual gas valve, which is leaking.  Took it to the goto place around here for welding supplies and the counter guys looked at me as if I had three heads when I explained it had a valve in it.  I took it to the back where the shop guys were and they took it apart, said that they had never saw a tweco with a valve in it, they did a little looking online and didn't find anything.  There is no tailend, just wires, gas line, and wire liner coming out.  He did say that Tweco mini-gun consumables would work on it.  Doesn't look like the welder was used much. Sears only lists a whole new gun, no parts.  Looks like all it needs is a ~$5 valve that I can't find a part number for or someone who even knows where to look for it.  Oh well, before I shell out $150 for a new sears gun, I'm thinking of installing a solenoid valve and bypassing the in gun valve. Ugh. Wouldn't be the most elegant solution.I did a little searching for solenoid valves on ebay and i'm not sure what size I need to get to ensure enough gas flow, or where to buy the fittings to connect the hard white 5/32" OD plastic tubing to the solenoid valve. Also need to figure out how to connect the tubing in the gun to bypass the old valve. The relay that controls the cold tip and wire feed motor has a 24vdc coil, so I was thinking of adding a 24vdc solenoid powered in parallel with the relay.Tips, thoughts, ideas appreciated!Pics:Front of welderGunInside gun, trigger area.Last edited by mschrock; 02-11-2011 at 10:40 AM.Reason: corrections
Reply:Download the Tweco catolog and maybe you can look through the breakdown of the old tweco miniguns and find the part but your best bet would be to go to your nearest Sears repair and service centre because they have the parts breakdowns for your machine on micofiche still, and you should be able to get the part.http://www.thermadyne.com/thermadyne-us.html
Reply:I looked around the thermadyne site and couldn't find anything.  On a whim I decided to look for o-rings, I picked up a couple 5/32 id x 9/32 od orings at truevalue hardware. They were alittle big, but i managed to reassemble the valve, and it seems to be holding.  I'm having trouble with the wire feed now, tips for replacing the liner??  Should I measure the od or just remove the liner and take it with me to the lws?
Reply:We have a complete replacement gun for your welder.  Our P/N is 81295-T10 and it is $65.www.usaweld.com or 847-357-0700Jeff NolandDrive a LincolnDrink a MillerWeld with an HTP
