I bought a box of rod from a local Napa store. Dealer said they had been on the shelf for 15 years. I bought them because they were 5/32 but that is all I know about them other than the following. Firepower 84-195 Anyone know what these are ?
Reply:What are you welding that you need 5/32" rods for and buying mystery rods?.No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:That's what I want to know 5/32 is a big rod. I know a guy that only uses 5/32 and he mostly does maintenance repairs on his farm, nothing that requires a rod that size.Lincoln 225 RangerSa200 01 dodge 3500 welding rig
Reply:LOL Trying to weld 18 ga to replace the floors and cab mounts in an 86 Nissan. I have a broken Clarke MIG, A flux welder from HF that I can't get much of anything out of, a Century 100 buzz box, a Sears Color-matic AC unit and a Hobart GW 223. Oh, and oxy acy. The best welds I have come up with so far (on scrap) is with this rod. I have just heard that it is an E6024 and 1/16, not 5/32. I have never tried to weld thin stuff before and it had turned out to be quite a trick. My MIG birdnests the wire every few minutes along with stuttering etc and my oxy weld skills are about nill. I don't have a tig unit (yet) And so this seems to be my best option outside braze and I'm not sure about my skills and just how strong braxe would be.
Reply:I don't even know what to say. You have absolutely no clue what tools you need to do the job. 5/32 "mystery" rods are not going to work at all to replace a rusty floor pan.Have we all gone mad?
Reply:That should have read 5/64 but turned out to be 1/16 anyway.
Reply:Oh, and oxy acy.Well there ya go dude,18 gauge metal and bronze rods and presto you got yer floor in.Felonps make sure you got the garden hose handyCaution lurker lives here" hmmm That is serious, pass the ganja and pick up a 24 of MGD"
Reply:Did you take a look at one of the rods ,it should have what type rod it is there somewhere??firepower are now thermadyne rods, you could check with them.if that number is the amperage range(84-195) its an odd one maybe they could cross reference.Just bored and wonderin what the hell you were thinkingFelonNever mind me i just read your last post 5/64 box with 1/16 rods, ill just crack another beer and ponder lifeLast edited by Felonyass Monk; 09-20-2011 at 08:09 PM.Caution lurker lives here" hmmm That is serious, pass the ganja and pick up a 24 of MGD"
