Dodge hemi came in with a hole in the side, rod broke. 1940something Kaiser block was cracked from cyl bore into intake port x2. Cracks in Kaiser were ground out and radiused for spray welding. Preheat to 700 degrees, OA spray with ni powder, post heat 700, slow cool.Hemi- cut patch, weld with ni55 about 1/2 to 3/4 inch at a time- peen the snot out of it, when cool repeat.I hot repair inside combustion chamber because arc will not work. The cold repair only needs to keep oil from leaking out. And yea I epoxied the inside of the cold repair!Peter Attached ImagesEquipment:2 old paws2 eyes (that don't look so good)1 bad back

Reply:What spray welding gear do you use? I bagged a Eutectic setup for 35 bucks at a flea market but don't know how to use it.

Reply:Nice save as usual Peter! I 'spect the hemi died as a result from the powdered metal connecting rod failing... Been some in my area that failed out of nowhere (not driven hard, low miles/high miles, makes no difference). Originally Posted by jbyrdCastweld,May I ask where you procure your Eutectic powder? Reply:I was in a hemi warehouse one time that had hemi motors from floor to ceiling. Many blocks I was looking at had metal patches with pop rivets. Guy said non of the water jackets were hit so they are good motors yet.Nice repairs!
