Hey everyone!!So, recently, I became a high school graduate And words can't describe how happy I am to finally have that experience behind me. Anyway, here in the great state of Ohio, one of our graduation requirements is that we do 30 hours of community service. Some people cleaned ditches, others cleaned animal shelters, and one guy I know even folded towels at the local homeless shelter for 30 hours. I really didnt want to do that, and for some reason, I didn't just fake the papers, so I started thinking. My mom runs a near-by seminary, and said that they needed some park benches built. I talked to a couple people and got my mom to come up with a design and figure out where they were going to go, and we found someone who donated the material... The school got three benches for free, and the philanthrapist even let us keep a bench for the farm, which I thought was nice.I drove to the city and bought a few lenghts of salvage pipe, and cleaned out the steel yard of their scrap channel. I came home, got to work, well, the pictres and video tell the story better than I can...But anyway, I am officially DONE with high school!! WooooHooo, lol. Lifes good.To my knowledge, the school has yet to install them. When I dropped them off, we put them in a shed for later... They're having some concrete work done, and when that happens, they're going to use the leftover cement to secure the benches. When I see them installed, I'll take some pictures and maybe another video... I hope you all enjoy the video:(Video in next post)Last edited by Lanse; 06-26-2012 at 11:47 AM.[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. Reply:Hah, they instituted that here in FL a couple years before I graduated. I volunteered 30 hours in a catholic thrift shop. Wow. working around little old ladies for 30 hours was exhausting....Hobart EZ-Tig newbie.
Reply:I was in high school around maybe 40yrs ago   We were the doooods who never went to class, messed around with cars, and partied hard.  Wonder I ever graduated (actually had to do extension courses from the CC to do it).  And  BIG WONDER I ever got thru college   Went nights, drove a truck days.  Paid for school, and bought me my first house.  Best way to make a living when times are hard is to drive, believe me.  And the real hoot..........when I got outta college my resume just had truckin jobs on it....."sorry son, I don't believe you'd like working in an office what with your background"......"Well, ya fatazz f$$$$$ I sure didn't go to school to drive a &&^^^%$# truck for the rest of my days".  So, the upshot of it all...........I feed cows for a living now, and never looked back, and am probably happier for it.  Two decades of good livin' I gotta figure y'all got some REAL heavy senior citizens out your way, long as the underground portion of the benches are   Looks like about 3 feet set in concrete   Gotta quit letting the ol' geezers eat.  Put 'em on the Southbeach Diet (Didn't get a chance to look at the video yet, I'm old, and video adverse )"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Or it could be the reason those are so long is that they have extremely loooong legs, not that there is that much going into the ground, just really long legged folks gonna use them.Congrats on graduating Lanse, Now life really starts and you have to really start using the knowlege you have been aquiring for the last 12 years. But the learning curve starts getting steeper, cause now there are no teachers in the school of hard knocks to grade you. Just your own ability to carry your own weight in this world, but you seem to have a leg up on a lot of kids your age nowadays with a marketable skill set right out of H/S.Last edited by Bistineau; 06-26-2012 at 08:15 PM.
