Reply:i heard tell that welding style originated in the oil fields many years ago. there's some 411 on it on welding tips forum.i.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla
Reply:There was someone here a while back who was trying to talk me through it. I just could never get it to look right going around a pipe! Back when I use to work in a lot of oil refineries I'd see it a lot. I think it's pretty cool, I'd love to learn how to do it. Have to put that on my bucket list. Reply:The texas lace is another name for the figure 8 weave. Cep posted a good picture of it and has several good picture on here of them. There is a feller that goes by pipe fitter that is a master and machine when it comes to the lace. you can see come of his work herehttp://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...ight=6013+pipe
Reply:I should add that it is not accepted in many places any more as more code work is going to stringers over weave, but I still think it is what separates the pros from the rest. I love lacing a cap.
