Hey Yall!! Hope everyones having a good weekend So, this is what I've been up to lately. Recently, I picked up a nice secondhand Lincoln Precision Tig 225, and aside from messing around with it, I hadn't really done any projects with the machine, and I really wanted to try it out. About a year ago, I was driving a 96' Chevy that had this little plastic box up in the engine compartment, which you could put straps, etc in. It was really handy, and I wanted something like it for my new truck. The 11' has this empty random tray which I decided would be perfect to build onto, so with some 3/16" diamond tread, I got to work, and this is what I made:Its really handy, and is bolted down to the tray. I know its only held in place with one bolt, but there was only one threaded nut built into the tray, so I used that. After the paint dried, I drilled out 4 small drainage holes (one in each corner), and installed it. I'm really happy with how it turned out. If I were going to build it again, I would drill the drainage holes before the paint, and I'd paint it with that spray-can truck bed liner stuff. I used low gloss black because its what I had around, and I didnt feel like spending the ~$8 on a can of truck bed liner. Now the paint already scratched and the can "dripped" a little as I was spraying. Oh well, thats what I get for being cheap LOL. Like I said tho, I'm really happy with how it turned out. I've since rubber-banded the straps you see in the pics/video so that theres no chance of them getting loose and caught in the belt, pulleys, etc. That could be bad Anyway, I hope you enjoy the video [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anBA4TkQva4[/ame]P.S. I've re-sized the pictures so I hope they work for everyone. Let me know [Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009
Reply:Your "empty, random tray" is designed for the 2nd battery. My guess is your old plastic box was a battery box someone simply used for storage. I think I'd rather have the 2nd battery myself... but it's a good use of space if you aren't going with 2 batteries..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Interesting, Lanse. That's where the battery is on my '01 Silverado. That six banger has a nice exhaust note. Sounds more like an 8 than a 6.PapaLincoln Idealarc 250 (circa 1962)Lincoln Weldpak 155 w/Mig KitLincoln Squarewave TIG 175

Reply:Very nice project. Can never have to much storage.
Reply:Why does everybody have to use gigantimo thick plate for stuff going on trucks   You've added untold poundage to the left front suspension, radicly altering the handling characteristics, requiring huge camber and caster adjustments to bring it back to factory   YOU'VE CREATED A DEATHTRAP Looks real good.  I like your TIG better'n your stick Work on those stick welds "Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Nice video and build, but afraid I'm with Sam on this one. 16swg/1.6mm would have been an ample  thickness,If you did not have any I would have waited till I did,Gives a whole new meaning to "over-kill"Lincoln SP-170 MigHypertherm powermax 45Lorch T220 AC/DC TigButters FM 215 synergic MigKemppi 180 adaptive mig RULES ARE FOR THE OBEDIENCE OF FOOLS AND THE  GUIDANCE OF WISE MEN.
