hey i have a mineral feeder our family built and designed it cost 70 bucks for square tubing  you can hang oilers for cattle on it too i was wondering is 300 too much i think its reasonable Attached ImagesQuality is our policy.
Reply:you can lift it up with a hydraulic bed it holds three tubs and dust bags or oilers can hang on it i coat the bottom in pickup bed liner to keep the salt from rusting it outQuality is our policy.
Reply:i think its an excellent idea and 300.00 is a fair price. i like the fact that you can move it with a bale loader. Handy!
Reply:should be painted to be a finished product though
Reply:The end of that tubing on the top rail looks fairly thick.  What is that? 1/4"? You might drop that down to some thinner tubing that would work just as well.  Add a gusset to keep the corners strong.  I don't know how much that would change the cost, but it might be worth looking into.  You could offer the thick one at regular price, or the thin one at reduced cost.  That might help catch a customer that wouldn't buy the more expensive one.Dynasty200DX w/coolmate1MM210MM VintageESAB miniarc161ltsLincoln AC225Victor O/A, Smith AW1ACutmaster 81IR 2475N7.5FPRage3Jancy USA1019" SBAEAD-200LE

Reply:add up the cost of the metal and paint, plus your labor. then add a profit mark up. Now you have the price to sell it at. you don't want to build stuff for sale and get a dollar an hour to make it.
Reply:It looks like it might not rain much where you are, but in this area we'd want something over it to keep rain out.  It's good practice to cap the ends of tubing to keep insects from building nests in there, and to keep water/manure out of the ones that are resting on the ground.Your price will depend on if you're building them in bulk, with jigs, and MIG welding.  It will also depend on material thickness you end up with.Don't make them too light, or the cattle will turn them over while they're playing with them.  Not to mention the feet will rust out quicker.  Remember that anything that's within reach of the cattles' tongues is also going to be attacked by the salt in the mineral and the cattle's saliva.  If you went with thinner tubing anywhere, I'd make it the top horizontals only.  It looks like a very sale-able idea.Last edited by tbone550; 11-29-2011 at 02:32 PM.
