Just looking to get my foot in the door and maybe make a little extra $ on the side with some smaller welding gigs. I've tinkering with an old hobart welder for a few months and now I'm ready to step it up... problem is I'm not sure which welding machine I really need. Don't want to buy more than I truly need. Budget is under a grand, and will mostly be doing light projects on my jeep at first.. small spot welds, a bit of MIG welding.I've been eyeing the thermal arc fabricator 181i, bc I hear it does pretty much all I need it except for aluminum welding, and even then I could just purchase the aluminum gun if i needed later on. Welding machine review rated it a 9.3.What do you guys think? Any other, possibly cheaper suggestions?

Reply:They will also have a 200-210 amp version out soon, It'll probably be around the $1500 mark, theres also a rumor flying around about a dual voltage unit.. If these things are on par with the quality of the Thermal Arc tig welders they are going to sell a bunch of these machines..Last edited by brucer; 12-08-2011 at 07:54 PM.tackleexperts.comwww.necessityjigs.comhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/mach...dingequipment/ |
