Reply:See, I go to my in-laws for Christmas for a weekend, and this is what happens! Hey 74, without knowing your tip sizes, brand of torch, and the thickness of material you're cutting, anything I'd have to say would be just a guess. Actually I've never strayed too far from acetylene pressures when working with propane. I think the torches on the truck are set at 5-7 psi on the propane and around 40 on the oxygen. That's with an SC40-0 tip. I think most people run a little more fuel pressure as a percentage of oxygen pressure than I do. I have very little slag on the underside of my cuts though, so it suits me fine although preheat might be taking a little longer. And I'd be happy to loan anyone but the Sticky-Fingered One my torches for a video! Sticky tends to glom onto anything he touches, and next time you look for it......well, you get the idea. I'd put some funny smilies up here, etc, but this little Mac laptop is giving me enough trouble just trying to type! It's like trying to get some welding work done knowing that Stick-Man is somewhere in your shop, looking over your equipment! |
