Hey everybody. I am a horseshoer and just purchased an O/A setup to do some brazing and welding of inserts into horseshoes.Being a new user my main concern is safety particuarly since I travel to my clients locations. I was wondering if you all could share some real world safety lesson with me so I can avoid any beginner bonehead mistakes. Thanks everyone

Reply:LOL, thats what I am trying to avoid. Keep in mind on top of the O/A I travel with a propane tank in my trailer to run my forge. My work sequence is such that by the time I am packing up and leaving my forge has been off for about 40 minutes and has cooled down to enough to touch. I also know to store and use the cylinders upright and to travel with valve caps on. anything else????
Reply:Oxygen and oil do not mix. Never get oil on the O2 reg or cylinder valve and don't use an oily wrench to change the regs.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...ht=oxygen+fire.No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Flash suppressors on your regulators even if their built in to the torch. It will cut down on flow, but not too bad.
Reply:If your tanks are out in the open, check local laws to see if it's legal to travel w/o the caps over the tank valves. If so buy the valve protectors designed so the regulators can still be on the tanks. It's OK to have the oxy tank laying down, the acet tank must stand upright at all times.
