I have an Air Products Vis Arc that is the same as a Miler 330AGP. I found the owners/operators manual on the Miller website but it doesn't tell much concerning a Mig attachment. Does anyone know what could be used for a wire feed unit with this welder?
Reply:I think that you will find that you have a cc power supply (stick and TIG). In order to run short circuit mode Mig you need a cv power supply. unless you are talking about a wire feeder for the tig process in which case here is the link to one CK makeshttp://www.ckworldwide.com/coldwire.htm_______________________OF COURSE I DON'T LOOK BUSY... Reply:Yeah, had one of those. It's all Constant Current, you need Constant Voltage for the proper running of GMAW. You could use a voltage sensing unit, but you would not be happy with the results.Jay DavisAWS-CWIC-60 Specialty Welding ContractorLoving husband, and father of two boys (
Reply:When I had mine, I had a Profax gun with a VS box attached to the machine but according to Profax it was designed to ONLY be used for Aluminum on that machine. As the others have said you need a CV machine if you plan to do much MIG weldingTiger Sales: AHP Distributor www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P, Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma. Reply:As has already been stated, a VS voltage sensing unit such as the Miller Xtreme 8 or 12VS suitcase would get you into the hunt with your 330. If you're already familiar with MIG, a VS unit takes a little getting used to as it "feels" or runs a little different than a regular CV machine. However, often you can pick up a good quality used MIG for less than the cost of a used 8/12VS so unless you just don't have the room for another unit, that should be taken into consideration.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:I like my Hobart Hefty feeder and they often sell cheaper than Miller due to less brand recognition. Their later relatives are now produced by Thermal Arc, and rollers etc are available. |
