Needed to make a new bird bath after our old one was stolen from us. Used steel that I had around and an old satilite dish. Attached Images

Reply:Satilite dish bird bath is that only for Extraterrestrial Birds???
Reply:I'll paint it as soon as I figure what color the wife wants it.
Reply:Now we know why your wife complains that her car pulls hard to the right when she applies the 'brakes'. Rick V 1 Airco Heliwelder 3A/DDR3 CTC 70/90 amp Stick/Tig Inverters in Parallel1 Lincoln MIG PAK 151 Oxy-Acet

Reply:I've got a similar project going, but the dish is the dome cover from a powered attic ventilator. Never thought of using a old brake rotor for a base. Got a couple of those around here too and will have to steal that idea. Thanks for sharing!PapaLincoln Idealarc 250 (circa 1962)Lincoln Weldpak 155 w/Mig KitLincoln Squarewave TIG 175

Reply:Originally Posted by anickodeActually, since the birds are only touching the bath, they won't get a shock.  Set the thing on a rubber mat, and you'd be good to go.My gramps hangs his bird feeders by screwing an electric fence insulator to a tree branch, and hanging the bird feeder on a ~5 foot piece of galvanized wire.  There's a solar fence transformer in a fake bird house up in the tree, with insulated wire feeding to each bird feeder hanger.  Keeps the squirrels from trying to climb down the wire like you wouldn't believe.
Reply:Great job. I would love to learn how to make the twisty. I will goggle it!Dave ReberWadsworth Ohio
Reply:I like it better than the birdbath we have.  It's the proper depth. In ours the little birds hop in and drown, it's too deep.  Kinda depressing to go out in the morning and see the little fellas floating with their tiny little birdy legs sticking straight up in the air."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
