I got a job welding some structural steel framing. The material is all lightweight with the heaviest being 10 gauge and the lightest being 16 gauge.I have to take a certification test that will be a vertical butt weld on 10 gauge sheet metal. I'll be using FCAW.Is there a place that I can look up the actual specifications for the test? I would like to see how they are going to have me setup the test material so that I can practice a few times before I take the test.ThanksMiller TrailBlazer 301Miller 12rc feederMiller ShopmasterMiller 22a feederPlasmaCam CNC TableHypertherm 45 cutterDrills, saws, blast cabinets etc.
Reply:One time I had to run the "Method of Testing" for a WPS on a Boeing project. One test was vertical up on 10-GA. 100% penetration. We used .030" Mig, with C-25. 1/16-inch gap.Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400 |
