"Rings" sculpture finished

Some of you may have seen this in an earlier post of my work. Reply:Lol yes art is supposed to look good, but honestly when the average person (not weldors) look at it, their eyes aren't drawn to the welds. That being said, I know they could look better, but this was kinda just a thrown together fun project. I've seen worse welded on "functional" pieces before. No hard feelings about it, I'll just make sure my welds look better next time I post a piece that I make. Reply:Following the tangent of poop welds on art...  On something small like this it's fine from a non-welding perspective.  What scares me is when you see 20 foot tall sculptures made from something like 1/2" corten plate, and the tiny pinhole-riddled welds look like they were done with a harbor freight AC flux core welder.  A lot of sculptures have almost no structural integrity aside from the poorly executed tack welds connecting the heavy, "balanced on the edge" pieces of steel together by the tips of the corners.  Being art, there's often no sense of safety or design engineering involved during the "artistic process", and the results turn out to be hazardous.You didn't build that.'85 Miller AEAD-200LE

Reply:Wanna talk dumb in a park. Out in Long Island they have a outdoor archery range, unsupervised, that runs paralell to the childrens play ground. 100 meters long. Oh and I like your piece, the blued torch work adds a nice touch. Have you ever done any oil finishes over the blue? There beautiful!
