tractor forks

Hey guys, i dug an old forklift mast and forks out of the woods the other day and proceeded to modifiy them for my Mahindra. I made them wider and built a new guard. I used metalcore wire, what you see on the top of the weld is silicone puddles, these form when the scavengers in the flux mix with the impurities in the metal and float it to the top metalcore doesn't really like dirty metal that is why the apperance is the way it is. I hand cut the notched parts I added to the ends. Attached Images

Reply:Nice fork mount. How much weight did you save cutting all the holes? Or was their another purpose other than weight savings?
Reply:Nice mod. A set of forks is the single most useful attachment you can make for a tractor. I made two pairs about a year ago, one for me and one for my nieghbor. I use mine all the time and I think my nieghbor uses his more often than me.
Reply:not sure what the mast was off of, I had been looking for one for quite a while and the ones I found were beat up and most of all expensive. I happened to be talking to my father in law one day about it and he said " oh I have an old forklift mast out behind the garage in the weeds" so after a little searching I found it,  the holes saved a little weight but it's still  heavy, i put the holes in  there to give me a place to strap stuff if needed plus thought it looked better that way. thanks for the good comments,
Reply:Nicely Done!  (Now why can't I find a set of forks in the woods around here!  )  Metalcore is the cats meow for thicker stuff that can be positioned, eh?
Reply:I like metalcore, it seems a bi picky compared to fluxcore. if you take time to remove all the mill scale and run it with pulse you can put down some amazing looking welds. I will ry to post some latter today.
