recently acquired a Miller 180SD tig welder and am working on getting it up and running. It did not come with a foot pedal or torch. The Serial # is LE146050Date on inside of front panel is Mar.24,2004.The #'s on the Hours as follows:001 959 = 19Hr, 59M..?The Cycles :005 501 = 5,501...?Not sure if this is accurate. Is this resettable by previous owner?Unit welds fine in both AC/DC in stick mode.I can weld in tig mode with the A-B pins jumped on the 14 pin connector on welder.I originally found that the back of this 14 Pin amphenol connector was completely separated from the board and soldered the pins to the board.Connections on the main board have been removed and reconnected and checked for corrosion. Look OK. Internals of welder are overall pretty clean.I have a new torch with remote and connected to welder and tried to weld.HF comes on and gas pre and post flows OK.Remote amperage control seems to have no control as #'s don't change on Dig. Display.Arc strikes OK but very weak. Seems to be very low amperage. As I stated before when I jump A-B I can manually adjust amps @ machine and weld with torch.Am I looking at a board problem or something else? Current transformer?Any help is greatly appreciated. |
