Gas Powered versus Land power.

I know how all of you guys like the pipeliner's because of the arc. As opposed to say my stick/gas welder, and the millers. But how does it compare to the land line fed welders, like the ideal arc? From what I have read, the pipeliners sa-200, and 300 are magical.
