My other big project that I have been working on.This is getting posted here instead of under the thread welding rigs cause the welder isn't on it YET!!!!! Should happen this week though.Started with a straight Bradford flatbed, modified, built and added all the rest. The lead reel reels in the second set of pics will go on after I drop the welder in place.

Is that Propane or Chemtane (propane with an ad-mix)? "The tank is actually not stubby its about 45 inches tall, it just sits down with only a 1/3 above the deck. And yes its chemtane.On the vise I struggled with that, I am not a young guy and mounting it on the top deck was too tall and I can't work off of it it would have been about 4 feet up or so. I didn't want it on my hitch as I have a rollout wheel that fits into that. Which basically left me nowhere to put it. It only obscures the brake light, pics are problably not great but it can still be seen. A side note though is my headache bar has full lights in it so I actually have two sets of lights.I really fiddled with placement of it, the only other option would have been to really get agressive and remake the whole end of the bed ( which I considered and canned as too much work, not enough gain ); or make it so it hinged vertically and dropped down ( which after a couple of days dinking around with that idea I scrapped as it it really didn't layout properly and was too tall again or a ungodly mess hanging of the end of the bed. A last bad option was to conceal the license plate, which really would have covered it up and it couldn't be read.But I agree with you its not perfect it was a tradeoff, useability vrs placement.I will snap a couple more pics of it though you can't see the top brakelights, and I will open it up.

Reply:Ever think about adding one more brake light out on the corners to make up for the one that's covered? Might not be too hard to do unless there's a lot of framing in the corners. Or shorten the vice mount so it only covers the back up light, they're not used much on the road, not as much as brakes.

Reply:Great job on the truck.  Leaving the vise 30* out from the bumper will expose the brake lite just fine.  My curious ... is that a real red tile roof in the background?  Like in the Mediterrainain (PIIGS) countries?  WTF?  I know, I know.  They like tile roofs and stucco in Payson too - protects from the dry air and forest fires!

Reply:I flipped the vise around and it doesn't coverup the whole light. I also have a neighbor who is retired state hghway patrol look at it and I am legal. in my state.

Reply:" How hard is it to get that 100lb chemtane tank in its nook?"Actually pretty easy, the pictures don't clearly show it but it has a door, and on of the top of the door two hinges with a flip down to match the bottle contour. So basiclly its pull trailer hitch pin, open the door and flip the top. Inside it has a piece I made which looks like a cross between a spoon and a two pronged fork, pinned to a motorcycle chain. The other side has a bolt that fits between the forks and tightens it down, and there is a hook hidden inside to hold the wrench for the bolt. The two chains fit into the side of the "box" by use of some "T" bolts I made and I cut T slots into the sides of the box so the chains just pop out, but tighten into the slot when securing the bottle.The bad tank is the oxygen, I need to pull the chemane out to fit the oxy bottle into the rack. Thats a busy corner BTW as there is a flip up compartment right up behind the bed and I have the same sized battery as my truck in the compartment ( all secured of course ) which is the welder battery. It all flush so it doesn't obstruct and the battery sits on top of the short diagonal box right behind the cab.Without major modes to the headache rack the oxy is just what it is, I already cut the side of the headache rack back six inches to make it all fit but didn't want to go more as it would get flimsy. If I had built the rack from scratch it wouldn't be that way BTW.
Reply:BTW I have the welder up on board now and I will get some pics of it on the truck. I still haven't mounted the lead reel yet, as I have: 1. been super busy working 2. need to isolate the ground from my truck on the lead reel 3. I am still doing some work on the welder the idle is set too low. Work just keeps getting in the way of my projects though.
