I Have a XMT 350 MPA and am a little confused on how to properly set the arc length on pulsed mig. i am using .035 wire with 75ar 25co2 on mild steel. the machine has a default setting of 50 on the range of 0-100 but it seems like i get excessive spatter when running in that range. if i bump it up to around 80 spatter goes away but puddle seems to hot. am i doing something wrong, how do you pros adjust this machine. will wire speed affect this spatter?

Reply:What he said above. I tried 98% argon, 2% o2 and found it too hotThen I went to 92% argon 8% Co2. Works great. I use a lincoln, but pulsed spray is what it is.Set if for as short of an arc length without it shorting.DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor. |
