Toyota tacoma rock sliders

I made a set of rock sliders for my buddy's truck. He already had the main rail welded to his truck but it was not really protecting the truck body. So i made these and welded them on for him.Here are a few pics of the build.TotlandDesign

Reply:Good job. I like the design. but I prefer round tube for things like this. I have something similar on my ram. If its used as a step, can I suggest adding on a few pieces of expanded metal, as they become slicker than snail snot in august when they get wet or muddy. I just about face planted the door panel once at a car wash. but I did manage to bash my shin on the tube and split it wide open, when I fell. Reply:The size of the tubing is 1.5"x1.5"x0.120 hrew. We originally wanted round tubing but I don't have a tubing bender. I actually like the bulky look of the square tubing though.Expanded metal  would actually be a cool design I think.Maybe I'll do that next time. Thanks for the input.TotlandDesign

Reply:Another small feature that can be handy, is that if they are strong enough to use as a jacking point, you can add stringer beads to the bottom of the tube, that way a high lift jack will have a ridge to catch on, and it won't slide off the step once it gets up to a sharp angle where it may slide.
