Hello to all again . I need with help with getting a good weld on 1/8 normal flat stock. I ground down the steel got rid of the mill scale turned on the argon abought too 20 psi on the gauge set the machine to 1/8 setting and started to weld i currently have the machine runing on a 110 line. the welding wont stay consent it will stop and start and have porosity. It will have pin holes here and there could it be that i don't have enough power or the ground clamp. i never seem to have this kind of problem before. thanks for the help again. Also i'm a welder for a living
Reply:Is the gas pure argon? Is the machine set up DCEP or DCEN?
Reply:I just changed out a spool of wire that half way in it was loaded with snags and tight spots, try checking your spool and roller tensionI hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
Reply:My 1st thought would be to check and see if the gun is plugged in properly. A poor connection ( wire won't arc consistently) and porosity would make me check to see if the gun is all the way in the socket at the machine. Erratic feeding alone would make me check to see if the wire isn't overlapped of if the gun had tight bends the way you had it set up to weld, or possibly the liner might have gotten kinked if the gun got jammed up against something. Simple porosity alone would make me check all the gas connections for leaks and check to make sure the gas ports in the gun are not blocked by the nozzle. The last two issue together might cause your issues. As mentioned 100% argon will not work right, you need an argon/CO2 mix or straight CO2 for steel wire, though I doubt that would be the main issue. One 110v I'd set the machine manually and see if that helped. I'd set the voltage to max and the wire speed to roughly 1/2 (5-6 on a scale of 1 to 10) and adjust from there based on how it runs for 1/8" material..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
