Digital Rotary encoder for Tube notcher Mod

Bought a Baileigh Tube Notcher a while ago, nice bit of kit but just like every other notcher it's a pain transferring an angle to the notcher and getting it spot on.So I used a Digital Rotary encoder from Allendale stores machined up a pin to replace the stock M12 Allen Bolt (they had used a setscrew not a bolt)Cross drilled the head and fitted a 4.5mm roll pin. The supplied nut was very thin, less than a half nut, I've nearly lost a knuckle on a few occasions. So I Machined a new one up.To allow for Z Axis moment, the shaft is extended so the Encoder doesn't hit the jig, when not cutting through the tube on the centre line.The wall thickness of the lower shaft is only 1.6mm so the threads holding the setscrew for the encoder shaft, will fail so I'll machine up a sleeve when it fails.The bracket is a bit of a kludge, but I need to keep the SS bracket on as it also fits my bender. (ignore the M3 nut and bolt the bracket is pop riveted on)The encoder is zeroed by placing a tube over the notcher shaft and lining up with the tube to be coped. Reply:Here's where to source the sensor and readout, about $100 or so once you do shipping and customs.  It's a Chinese part, available from a UK supplier on eBay.  They may knock the 17% VAT (like sales tax in the States) off the price, I haven't asked yet.http://www.ebay.com/itm/230757090943...84.m1423.l2649I've been in contact with GemRed, a Chinese supplier of this device.  Minimum quantity is 500, I'm getting a price for what they will cost landed, at my door.  I've also been putting some ideas down for how to incorporate these into a tube bender angle device.  I was about to get a kit from SWAG that uses the HF angle finder but I'm going to see what happens with this unit first.Enough stuff to build and repair wrinkled up race cars or bring a classic back to life...
Reply:The Company in the UK is called Allendale. I paid 50GBP for mine, if they export they will remove the VAT @20%.I use the same kit on my protools Bender. works very well, I must say.
